Starter Power Defined The Force Behind Engine Start Success

This problem has got me stumped. Truck is in no start condition, turned the key and sounds like nothing going on. Originally suspected clutch position switch. No crank, slow crank and stuck starter solenoid problems have the same root causes – low battery voltage and poor connections. The "parts changer" solution is to swap the relay w/ new or substitute a relay from another location. However this will not solve a wire fault. When the starter is hooked up off the truck it will spin fine but when it's on the truck it bumps the engine over a few inches and looses power. The starter solenoid is bad on my 966.
