I agree with others above. Unless there is a specific need to use another oil, stick with 5W-20. That said, you can substitute 5W-20 for 0W-20 ... 0W-40 is much better for the summer. Mobil1 SuperSyn 0W-40 is some pretty good stuff overall. You can certainly use 5W-30, but I wouldn't. The successor Mobil 1 ESP x4 0W-40 will be carrying A40 AND C40 and is considered to be a next generation oil. I see amsoil recommends the 0w-40 as a direct replacement and many people say they run Mobil 1 in the 0w-40. I am not wanting to get into ... Valvoline has a 0w40 that meets specs and is approved. But, Valvoline has 2 0w40's. Make sure you get the one that meets spec. I prefer the 0W-40 just because most dealers use it. My next alternative I'll use is 5W-40 Castro Edge Euro but looking for other alternatives ... The best one is M1 0w-40 becuase it's in a good price range , very widely available (Walmart @ $25 a 5qt jug) . 0W reduces start up wear and tear. Reasonable substitutes for 0w20 would be a 5w20, 0w30, or 5w30. Anything over that would be pointless. The only reason they recommend 0w20 over ... Should be fine.
