Decoding Injection Pump Stoppage Expert Troubleshooting

The pump has to be turning for any fuel to come out of the lines. As it will run, I doubt a fuel issue also. As they are a gravity feed, only a plugged line ... You have moisture, trash, dirt, or some other contaminant in your fuel. That same fuel problem will also ruin the new pump. Moisture in the fuel ... Honestly for the 10 mins it takes to heck the locations of possible fuel pumps I would check to see if they are there. Check under the seats and ... No there is still no fuel.... and two pumps have been tried, remove the pump and look in the hole using a flash light. Turn the engine over you ... If no movement of fuel then you have lost of prime or pump not working, or a blockage, which could be the glass check ball in the return nipple, ... I've traced the problem back to the FIP which isn't pumping any fuel. The FIP was completely refurbished at significant cost before refitting. Basically, the fuel is not being pumped to the injectors. Does this sound like the injector is shot. I thought fuel would be gushing from the pump. The shims adjust the pump timing, and if you change the pump you'll need a set of shims to retime it. Rebuilding or tuning the pump should not require retiming. If you have fuel, pump nut tightened correctly, and the shut off pulled towards the front of the truck or pulled up on.. you should see fuel ...
