S4 / RS4 (B5 Platform) Discussion - Ok to use an STP oil filter? I couldn´t find any OEM´s at my parts store - I noticed there were no ... STP oil filters are not actually made by STP, the are only STP "branded" products. That means that STP simply sells the use of their trademark to some 3rd ... STP filters are usually rebadged Fram filters. They use a paper filter element with cardboard retainer caps. I used to use them and had ZERO ... A filter is a filter. I use the "better" Pure Ones, but have used the "ghetto" Frams once or twice when they were out of stock.
