HPFP Malfunction? Check the Tappets First!

I had my HPFP go out on me this past February. BMW in Vista CA wanted $12,000 USD to replace the entire fuel system. I ended up figuring out how to fix it ... I'm reluctant to fork out for another "genuine" pump as as you say it may not be the problem. All the diagnostics say it's the pump though.... As you can see on the dyno chart to the right, the factory fuel pump is out of fuel much earlier than the IE HPFP. ... With rigorous testing behind this ... Also, I am curious ... turned out to be severely worn check valve seats that no longer sealed correctly. I replaced mine with a reman unit the local diesel ... Bad clamp or worn out hose. Alrighty then, this is what I start out with: this is the old pvt adapter from the WDS and a home made fuel pump jumper. The jumper will work ... Just replaced my HPFP on Saturday and pulled the cam follower to inspect. Looked great after 40k miles, virtually no evidence of wear.
