Stuck Ignition Key Dilemma Understanding the Causes and Finding Solutions

My key gets stuck and it won't come out of the ignition. Today it wouldn't even turn. It's like the key was locked in there and the steering was locked as well. Disconnect the battery and see if the key comes out.The is a lock solenoid that will keep the key locked if the the car is not in park. Check if the button on the shifter is stuck in. See if the shifter will move without pressing the button. It may be all the way in park. and push in on the interlock release. That should release you key.
