I'm wondering if the rings let a little oil by being as they only have 3500 miles plus its cold as balls. Never had black smoke from a gas ... just to name a few things. but first before spending a lot of money i would try and see if you can smell any thing like oil or extra gas. I would check EGR valve for dirt build up and proper working , clean the MAF (make sure they use the correct cleaning agent and not just brake ... Black smoke happens when there's too much fuel in the combustion chamber. Unfortunately, black smoke usually means reduced fuel efficiency and increased diesel ... I have also had considerable amounts of black smoke come out of my exhaust on my 05 sprinter 2500 w 360K M. But only after being parked in one ... The only other thing that would cause the smoke is wear in the cylinders. Wear in the cylinder will cause low compression. Low compression will cause the fuel ... I have 10K on my 2005 Golf GLS, 5 spd. Just completed the 2nd oil/filter change with the correct 505.01 as required! Recently followed my wife and noticed. Only thing I can think - I added a 1/2 litre of lucas heavy duty oil additive to the top of the engine (because access is easy) last night - ...
